A Bomb Pilot Dies

First, I would like to apologize for not posting for a few days, as I have been working with Mediacom and LInksys to try and figure out what is wrong with my internet access. This was the first time in 2 1/2 days that I have been able get online. Thank you!

One of the heroes of World War II has died. Paul Tibbets, who piloted the B-29 bomber Enola Gay that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, died Thursday. He was 92 and insisted for six decades after the war that he had no regrets about the mission and slept just fine at night. Tibbets died at his Columbus home. He suffered from a variety of health problems and had been in decline for two months. Tibbets had requested no funeral and no headstone, fearing it would provide his detractors with a place to protest, said Gerry Newhouse, a longtime friend.

I know there are many people who want to make out that the dropping of the Atomic bombs was terrible and barbaric. These people forget that this was a war that could have cost hundreds of thousands more American, Allied and even Japanese lives if they had been forced to invade the Japanese main island. Tibbets and his men were and are heroes for dropping the A-bomb and causing the war to be shortened!
