This Twilight Gardens Animal Rights Post

Earlier today I asked you to visit a MySpace Friends blog and post for a Big Laugh, and I hope you got to go there and enjoyed it. However, after I read that post I went to another MySpace Friends blog and read her very passionate post concerning animal rights and her many bulletins. If you click on her name "this twilight garden" it will take you to her homepage, and you can see that she has done many excellent posts on animal cruelty and abuse, and how we need to respect animals, who have feelings, similar to ours.

I realize my many bulletins might get on some people's nerves- I apologize, however, that won't deter me from posting these bulletins in hopes that they will educate people on the horrors of animal cruelty.

Bad News For Americans Privacy Rights

After reading a good news story about Iraq, I found a "bad" news story about America, and concerns that we will lose more of our "rights", because of the war on terror card being played again! We all agree that things are different since 9/11, but really if we go so far overboard with giving up our rights, then the terrorists have already won, because they made us "change" who we are and that is their main purpose. Well maybe secondary purpose, obviously their main purpose is to kill us, but not living as Americans, is the death of our spirit and makes us less than who we are doesn't it!

As Congress debates new rules for government eavesdropping, a top intelligence official says it is time that people in the United States changed their definition of privacy. Privacy no longer can mean anonymity, says Donald Kerr, the principal deputy director of national intelligence. Instead, it should mean that government and businesses properly safeguard people's private communications and financial information.

We shall keep a close eye on how all of this plays out and will update when more information is available about the rights they want us to give up. After all the people testifying, basically are saying that we can trust businesses and government, to protect our privacy, and we all know how good the government is at running anything right, So this will just be one more fiasco in the making, and we will all be less safe for it!

Israel Supports Detainees Rights

In a "weird" story it seems that one of the only "democracies" in the Middle East, Israel, is coming in as a friend of the court for the detainees at Guantanamo Bay Detention Facility.

With the U.S. Supreme Court set to take up Guantanamo detention policy again when its new term begins next month, the justices have received some unusual advice from a friendly corner of the war-torn Middle East. Israeli lawyers and military law experts have filed a brief that supports detainees in their quest for the right to have their cases heard in American courts. The Israeli lawyers argue that the Bush administration is making a mistake by trying to prevent the suspected terrorists being held at Guantanamo from filing cases in regular civilian or military U.S. courts.

Perhaps we should rethink our policies toward detainees, because if a country such as Israel, that is under constant daily threat of terrorism, can give these people "rights", it looks like we can take the "chance" as well in my estimation!
