As a non-participating, born and raised Catholic I have been watching with interest the vagaries of the Church. In one instance they seem to side with the terrorist's, as in their opposition to the United States and President George W. Bush's war in Iraq, and then today, I read a hopeful story that says that President "Wacko" Hugo Chavez of Venezuela has pronounced the Catholic Church and its' priests as enemies, and accuses them of interfering in his countries politics illegally. If this is true then I am wholeheartedly on the side of the Church, as they must see the danger that this crazy dictator poses to the whole region.
The Venezuelan Bishops' Conference complains that proposals for the forthcoming constitutional reform are being drafted without public involvement by a committee appointed by Chavez.
