2 Years Since Katrina

As New Orleans marks two years since Katrina hit, there were prayers, protests and a lingering disgust with the government's response to Hurricane Katrina marked the disaster's second anniversary Wednesday, with a presidential visit doing little to mollify those still displaced by the storm.
I think that while there has been a mess from the top down and at all levels of government, the people of New Orleans have a pretty good attitude. I do not believe that many people would put up with the kind of inaction, wrong actions, and just plain corruption and thievery that has gone on during the recovery efforts.
Hopefully, more will be going right than wrong from this day forward, and there definitely needs to be accountability for the past mistakes, but it really cannot all be laid at Bush's doorstep, though he and his administration have a lot to answer for during the fiasco that followed Katrina's wake. I think that Mayor Ray Nagin , as well as Governor Kathleen Blanco, should get their share of the blame as well. They were right there on the "ground" and they waited too long to request federal assistance I really don't want to blame the people who ignored the warnings until it was much too late. The fact that it had been so long since a major storm hit, they waited through shear complacency, and thinking it would be alright.
It is hindsight, but hopefully, the whole country has learned from this and will make quicker decisions that can save people lives in future disaster's, such as we just saw along the Gulf Coast recently with Hurricane Dean, where preparations and evacuations started well ahead of landfall. It did not greatly effect Texas, but the state and city officials made correct decisions to make sure people would not die if it did hit.
President Bush has awhile left in his term, and he needs to make sure that his "promises" are kept to the people who survived Katrina, and trying to cope with the terrible aftermath.

:) "There should also be an investigation into why President Bush hates Greece, and personally, set fires to burn so much of their country, but that is for a future post. Also, I cannot understand why he keep s making my computer crash??!" :)
