Bush Against Armenian Genocide Legislation

It would seem that there is never a time that the leaders in the House and Senate will not do something to make taking care of our troops more problematic. This is occurring again, with Senator Reid and House Speaker Pelosi bringing forth legislation concerning the "Armenian genocide" during the first World War, thus insuring the enmity of Turkey, an ally that is key in providing support for our troops in Iraq.

President Bush urged Congress to reject legislation Wednesday that would say it was a genocide when thousand of Armenians were killed around the time of World War I. The House Foreign Affairs Committee prepared to vote on a measure that Turkey says could damage ties with the United States. Turkey is a NATO ally and a major staging area for U.S. military operations in Iraq and the Middle East.

There may come a time when we can address this "historical event", but when are troops are in harms way, making a symbolic vote such as this is ridiculous, and shows the utter contempt that these leaders have for our men and women in the military, who will be more at risk, if Turkey decides it is not in their best interests to continue helping an ally, that condemns them in our Congress.
